7.2. Medical and Surgical Stabilization of New Injuries

Medical, surgical, and interdisciplinary services are concerned with restoring anatomic and physiological equilibrium while managing the medical and physiological sequelae of SCI/D and other diseases or injuries. Stabilization of the injury is an attempt to prevent additional impairments while focusing on prevention of complications. The site of this care is the SCI Center. NOTE: VHA provides back-up support to the Department of Defense (DOD) in case of an emergency.
