4.1. Safe Wheelchair Transfer Training Course (online) and Infographics

The University of Pittsburgh Spinal Cord Injury Model System and the American Institute for Research in collaboration with the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center have developed resources to educate consumers on safe wheelchair transfer techniques. 

Transfers are critical to independence for wheelchair users. Unfortunately, they also put higher stress on the arms and shoulders. Learning the correct way to transfer can reduce the risk of developing pain or sustaining injuries. This self-paced direct-to-user training program on independent transfers is now available for manual and power wheelchair users: Safe Wheelchair Transfer Training.
